Province 3 named as Bagmati, Hetauda its new Capital

KATHMANDU: Bagmati is the new name for Province 3 with Hetauda as its capital. The State Assembly of Province 3 passed the proposal with a 2/3rd majority earlier today.

There was no disagreement to use “Bagmati” as the name of the State. 104 votes favored the proposal with 3 against. Two state assembly members were absent.

Earlier Bibeksheel Party (Common Sense Wisdom Party) house of representative member Ramesh Poudel had proposed Kavre as the new capital. That was turned down in the majority who voted for Hetauda. The information was given by the Speaker of the State Assembly Sanu Kumar Shrestha.
