Nepal readies two buildings in Kharipati to quarantine Nepali evacuees from China
KATHMANDU, Feb 9: The government of Nepal has readied two buildings in Kharipati, Bhaktapur to quarantine the Nepali nationals being evacuated from Hubei.
Teams of Nepal Army and Health Ministry, after preparing a report, emptied the buildings of Nepal Electricity Authority to set up a quarantine facility, according to sources at the ministry.
Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli on Feb 6 had directed the authorities concerned to arrange quarantine locations in Kharipati, Suryabinayak, Shivapuri and Ichangunarayan.
A total of 180 Nepalis currently living in Hubei Province of China, which has been hit by deadly Novel Coronavirus, have applied for the evacuation.
On Sunday, the death toll from China virus surged to 811, most in the center of the outbreak Huebi, surpassing the global fatalities in the 2002-03 SARS epidemic and infected 37,198 people in China and 37,500 globally.
