Police smell foul as former Secretary Karki’s wife dies in hospital
KATHMANDU, Feb 10: Former Secretary Arjun Karki’s spouse, who was found unconscious in the kitchen at her residence in Sanepa today afternoon, died in hospital on course of treatment, said the police.
Muna Karki had sustained critical injuries to her head and was rushed to the Star Hospital, but the doctors pronounced her dead.
Her helper Bijay Chaudhary of Dang was also found hanging from the ceiling in the dining hall.
According to the hospital, Muna had bruises on her arm and neck.
Arjun, after visiting Pashupatinath Temple in the morning, returned to home when he found his wife in the unconscious state and the helper hanging, according to his neighbors.
He then cried out loud. The neighbors after hearing him and seeing the terror in the house had informed the police.
“She still had pulse when we rushed her to the hospital,” said Lalitpur Metropolitan Police Range SSP Tek Prasad Rai.
“Her condition was critical.”
“But, the helper was already dead when we reached there,” he added.
The police have suspected that Chaudhary might have murdered her using a small wooden stool used in the kitchen.
“Preliminary investigation shows that Chaudhary killed her with the stool and then hanged himself,” an officer involved in the investigation said.
Further investigation is underway.
