Tumbahamphe named Law Minister, to take oath today

KATHMANDU, Feb 17: The government has appointed Shiva Maya Tumbahamphe, a former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, as the Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs on Monday.

Tumbahamphe will take the oath of office and secrecy from President today afternoon, according to PM’s press advisor Surya Thapa.

The position has remained vacant since Samajbadi Party Chair Upendra Yadav quit the government in late December last year.

Tumbahamphe had resigned from her position as deputy speaker on Jan 20 after the ruling Nepal Communist Party decided to field Agni Sapkota in the Speaker’s election.
