Leader CP Mainali injured in road accident in Bardibas

BARDIBAS, Feb 27: General Secretary of the Nepal Communist Party (Marxist-Leninist) CP Mainali has been seriously injured in a road accident in Bardibas Municipality-3 on Thursday.

The accident occurred when the car Ba 4 Cha 2120 carrying Mainali and his family en route to Kathmandu from Jhapa collided with a pick-up van Na 4 Cha 7680 at Ratopul along the BP Highway today afternoon.

The former Deputy Prime minister Mainali has sustained injuries in his head and other parts of the body, according to DSP Rajan Chapagain. His daughter-in-law Puja Dhungana is also in critical condition with injuries in both legs.

His son Saroj Mainali, 30, five-year-old grandson Aain Mainali and driver Ram Prasad Paudel were also injured in the accident.

They are receiving treatment at Janasewa Hospital Bardibas. 

According to leader Prakash Pokharel, leader Mainali and Dungana are being airlifted to Kathmandu for further treatment.
