PSC, TU halt exams over COVID-19 fears
KATHMANDU, March 19: Public Service Commission (PSC) and Tribhuvan University (TU) have postponed all the scheduled exams until further notice citing the possible spread of coronavirus.
A meeting of the PSC decided to postpone the exams of civil service, security bodies and other government organizations scheduled between March 21 and April 12.
“Paying attention to the health sensitivity of the public resulted by the global pandemic, the written exams of civil service, security bodies and other government organizations scheduled between March 21 to April 21 are halted until further notice,” the PSC said in a notice on Thursday.
Likewise, the TU Executive Council secretariat stated that the dean offices under the central university will be instructed to halt the exams scheduled to begin from March 20.
The Council has also decided to close the TU campuses effective from March 20 until April 12.
The High-level coordination committee to prevent and control the COVID-19, on Wednesday, also postponed the SEE exams scheduled to begin from today.
Since the outbreak on Dec 31 last year, the virus has infected 207,855 people in 166 countries and territories and killed 8,648.
