Five people who came with the COVID-19 infected girl in Qatar Airways quarantined
KATHMANDU, March 25: Five persons who came to Nepal on the same flight the country’s second COVID-19 victim landed in Kathmandu have come to contact with the Mohattari District Administration Office, said Chief District Officer Surya Bahadur Khatri.
Eleven persons from Mohattari district had returned to Nepal via Qatar Airways. Of them, six have yet to contact the district authorities, according to Khatri.
All five have been quarantined after the primary medical check-up.
“Their health condition is normal,” Khatri added.
After a 19-year-old girl who came to Nepal from France via Qatar transit on March 17 tested positive for coronavirus, the government has intensified search for other persons who boarded the same flight.
She is receiving treatment at the Sukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital in Teku while all her family members have also been placed in quarantine.
Hours after the second case was detected, the government has enforced a nationwide complete lockdown for a week as part of its effort to contain the spread to the disease.
Meanwhile, the district authorities have placed five people who recently returned from Kolkata of India in home quarantine in Bardibas.
