Over 1,100 face action for defying lockdown

KATHMANDU, April 1: The police have taken action against 1,158 people from Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur on charge of defying lockdown. Of them, 990 are men and 168 are women.

According to the Metropolitan Police Division, the violators were made to stay hold on the spot for about two hours, while the police personnel taught them lessons to follow to avoid COVID-19 spread in the community.

The police have also confiscated 153 vehicles plying on the road during the lockdown.

The government has enforced nationwide lockdown since March 24 to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. The Health Ministry has confirmed five cases of coronavirus so far.
