KATHMANDU, April 9: An ex-British Gurkha serviceman has died of COVID-19 infection in the United Kingdom.

Chet Prasad Gurung, 59, from Parbat district, who has been living in London, died at local Northwick Park Hospital last night, Spokesperson at the Embassy of Nepal in London Sharad Raj Aran said.

He had been living in isolation at his home as advised by the doctor as he suffered from fever for two weeks.

“Gurung was taken to the emergency ward after he had difficulty breathing and was later shifted to ICU. He was kept on the ventilator after his health worsened two days after he was admitted,” Aran added.

The virus has killed 7,097 people and infected 60,733 in the United Kingdom.
