Nepal’s COVID-19 cases jump to 13

KATHMANDU, April 13: A 65-year-old woman from Lamki Chula Municipality-1 of Kailali district tested positive for the coronavirus on Monday as Nepal’s cases jumped to 13.

According to officials at the Health Ministry, she, along with 17 other individuals who had arrived with her from Birjung, was quarantined at the Lamki Multiple Campus two weeks ago and was sent home on April 10 after rapid test kit showed negative results. But the National Public Health Laboratory confirmed her result positive.

She has been sent to Seti Provincial Hospital for further treatment where four other patients are undergoing treatment for the virus. But the other 16 individuals have tested negative.

The health authorities are preparing to quarantine her relatives whom she had visited after returning from Birgunj.

National Public Health Laboratory has tested 3392 samples so far.
