Eleven more test positive as Nepal’s COVID-19 cases reach 42
KATHMANDU, April 21: The Ministry of Health and Population confirmed eleven more infections on Tuesday as Nepal’s coronavirus cases climbed to 42.
The ministry said that the newly infected had recently come in contact with the 12 patients from Bhulke of Triyuga Municipality who are undergoing treatment at the Koshi Hospital in Biratnagar.
“Of the 260 samples of the persons who were in contact with the infected sent to Kathmandu, three have tested positive while the results of 20 is underway,” the ministry said in a press release.
“Likewise, 69 more samples were sent to Koshi Hospital. Of them, eight were tested positive and sent to the B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan for re-confirmation,” the ministry added.
They are aged between 18 to 58 including two women. One female is 36-year old.
Udayapur has now become the hotspot of the virus, with 24 cases.
Of the total 42 infected, five have returned home after recovery.
