Seven more test positive as Nepal’s coronavirus cases surge past 80
KATHMANDU, May 5: Nepal’s coronavirus cases reached 82 after seven more persons were tested positive on Tuesday.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, three males aged 22, 30 and 40 and four females aged 9, 32, 34, 55 from Nepalgunj-8 have tested positive during a test at Bheri Hospital.
“Their health condition is normal,” the ministry stated.
Nepalgunj is becoming the new hotspot with all 23 infections reported in the past five days, second behind Udayapur which has reported 28 cases. After its first case was detected on a tailor on May 1, the sub-metropolitan reported 15 new cases on May 3.
The District Administration Office Banke has enforced a curfew order in Nepalgunj for three days effective from today at 11:00 am.
Of the total 82 cases, 66 are still active. 106 are in isolation while more than 21,500 are in quarantine. No deaths have been reported so far.
Province 1 has reported 31 cases, Province 2 has 13 cases, Bagmati has seven cases, Gandaki has two cases, Province 5 has 24 and Sudurpaschim has confirmed five cases so far. Karnali has not reported a single case.
