Federal parliament lawmakers test negative for COVID-19
KATHMANDU, May 8: All the lawmakers of the federal parliament, staff and security personnel have tested negative for the coronavirus.
A total of 433 throat swab samples were collected and sent to the National Public Health Laboratory on Thursday in view of today’s budget session, which is set to begin at 4 pm later in the afternoon.
Swab samples of 179 House of Representatives lawmakers, 33 National Assembly lawmakers and 221 staff and security personnel were collected for the possible COVID-19 infection.
The national laboratory has informed the Parliament Secretariat about the results.
Likewise, swab samples of additional 53 HoR lawmakers and 10 NA lawmakers have been collected today, according to Sridhar Neupane, Press Coordinator of Speaker Agni Sapkota.
The meeting halls have been screened and sterilized with an automatic fogger machine.
