Parliament passes govt policy and programs
KATHMANDU, May 19: The government’s policy and programs for the upcoming fiscal year 2020/21 has been passed by both the House of Representatives and the National Assembly with majority amid objection from the opposition on Tuesday.
President Bidya Devi Bhandari had presented the policy and programs at a joint meeting of the federal parliament on May 15.
Lower house parliamentarians Minendra Prasad Rijal, Durga Poudel, Prem Suwal, Laxmanlal Karna and Sarita Giri had tabled their amendment proposals but were disapproved from the majority vote in the parliament. Likewise, the amendment proposal registered at the upper house by Anita Devkota, Shekhar Kumar Singh and Pramila Kumari was also rejected.
The next meeting of the HoR shall hold at 1:00 pm on 26 May whereas the NA will meet at 11:00 tomorrow.
The government will present the budget for the upcoming fiscal year based on the policy and program on May 28.
