Nepal’s coronavirus cases jump to 548
KATHMANDU, May 23: Nepal’s COVID-19 cases climbed to 548 after 32 more infections were confirmed on Saturday.
According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Health and Population, seven males (aged 17, 19, 22, 29, 35, 40, 42) and a female (aged 27) from Banganga municipality of Kapilvastu district; 13 males (aged 18, 20, 20, 20, 21, 22, 23, 26, 26, 28, 33, 35, 35) from Godauta and Kabilasi municipalities of Sarlahi district; a 37-year-old female from Karaiyamai rural municipality of Bara district; a 35-year-old male from Kathmandu; eight males (aged 20, 20, 24, 24, 27, 30, 30, 55) from Gaidhawa and Rohini rural municipalities of Rupendahi district; and a 52-year-old male from Chitwan have tested positive for the virus.
With the new cases, Kapilvastu has now reported 77 cases, Sarlahi has 33 cases, Bara has 11, Kathmandu has 11, Rupendahi has 37 and Chitwan has six cases.
According a tally prepared by the ministry, Banke is the most affected district with 115 cases, followed by Parsa with 91 cases.
Jhapa has reported 35 cases, Udayapur has 33 and Rautahat has 22.
Nepal has reported three deaths from the virus so far.
