Nepal’s COVID-19 cases surpass 600

KATHMANDU, May 24: The Ministry of Health and Population confirmed 19 more cases as Nepal’s coronavirus cases reached 603.

According to the ministry Spokesperson, Bikas Devkota, a 45-year-old male from Baradasi-3 of Morang; a 32-year-old male from Kalaiya of Bara; a 25-year-old male from Birgunj and a 60-year-old male from Nagawa of Parsa; a 34-year-old male from Parsa currently in Bara; a 32-year-old from Rautahat currently working in Kalaiya, Bara; a 48-year-old male from Haripur-6 of Sarlahi; two males aged 40 and 50 from Samaramai and a 32-year-old male from Rupendhai-1, three males aged 23, 30 and 40 from Gaidahawa of Rupendahi; a 69-year-old male from Sorakhutte of Kathmandu and a 39-year-old male from Kakani of Nuwakot; three males aged 35, 37 and 52 from Khairati-3 of Kapilvastu; and a 31-year-old male from Madane of Gulmi have tested positive for the virus.

Of the total infected, 524 are males and 79 are females.

With the first case in Nuwakot today, the virus has now spread across 42 districts. The virus has reached to 11 districts in Bagmati and infected 34 people.

Province 5 is the worst-hit state with 281 cases in 7 districts, followed by Province 2 with 179 cases in all eight districts. Province 1 has reported 86 cases in seven districts. Sudurpaschim has reported 14 cases in four districts. Gandaki has 5 cases in three districts. Karnali has four cases in two districts.

A total of 87 people have recovered so far.

Nepal has reported three deaths from the virus.
