Nepal records highest number of infections in a single day as COVID-19 cases climb to 772
KATHMANDU, May 26: Nepal recorded the highest number of coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours on Tuesday with 90 new infections as Nepal’s COVID-19 cases jumped to 772.
According to the Spokesperson at the Ministry of Health and Population, Bikas Devkota, 35 people have tested positive during tests conducted at the National Public Health Laboratory in Teku.
“Two males (aged 30, 35) from Manohara rural municipality-10 of Mohattari district; two males (aged 35, 36) from Jumla who are currently residing in Bara; three males aged (19, 30, 35) from Pachauta municipality of Bara; 21 males and one female from Rautahat (seven males and one female (aged between 4 and 40) from Guar municipality, six males (aged between 18-41) from Debahi Gunahi and Dharhahi Gunahi municipality, six males (aged between 26-48) from Karuniya rural municipality, one male (aged 22) from Rajdevi municipality, one male (aged 24) from Garuda municipality); one male (aged 18) from Navarajpur municipality and four males (aged between 25-29) from Bhagwanpur municipality of Siraha district; one male (aged 22) from Belamukhiyapatti rural municipality of Dhanusha have tested positive, Devkota shared.
Likewise, one male has tested positive at a laboratory in Bheri Hospital.
“He is a 22-year-old male from Nepalgunj,” he said.
Similarly, seven have tested positive at the Rupendahi Provincial Hospital.
“Two males (aged 22, 50) from Mayadevi rural municipality-7 of Kapilvastu, two males (aged 19, 43) from Arghakhanchi, two males from Dhurkot of Gulmi and a 22-year-old male from Rupendahi have tested positive,” Devkota said.
Likewise, two have tested positive at the Seti Hospital.
“They are from Kailali and Aacham,” he said adding, “two males (aged 20, 29) from Waling of Syangja have also tested positive in Pokhara laboratory.”
Also, 12 people from Surkhet have tested positive at the Surkhet Provincial Hospital.
“They are seven males and one female (aged 9-46) from Birendranagar, two males (aged 16, 17) from Bheri Ganga municipality, two males (aged 35, 49) from Simta rural municipality of Surkhet,” Devkota shared.
Likewise, seven males (aged between 20 and 46) from Dudhuwa and Rapti Sonari and Baijanath of Banke; and 23 males aged between 19 and 55) and a 2-year-old girl from Yasodhara rural municipality of Kapilvastu have tested positive for the virus, he added.
-VIRUS HAS SPREAD ACROSS 46 DISTRICTS-
The virus has now spread to 46 districts with Province 5 the hotspot with 331 infections in eight districts. Arghakhanchi is the latest district the in province to report the infection today.
Province 2 is the second worst-hit state with 268 cases across its all eight districts, followed by Province 1 with 86 cases in seven districts. Bagmati has reported 38 cases in 11 districts and Sudurpaschim has 17 infections in five districts.
In Gandaki, Syangja became the latest district to report the virus today as the virus has now spread to four districts in province with a total of seven cases.
Jumla also reported its first infection today as the total case in Karnali reached 25. The virus has now spread to three districts in the province.
A total of 155 have recovered so far. Of them 124 are males and 31 are females.
