KATHMANDU, June 12: The Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) has decided to vote in favor of constitution amendment bill.

A meeting of the office-bearers of the party held on Friday decided to support the Constitution of Nepal Second Amendment Bill 2077 that seeks revision in the Schedule-3 to update the map of Nepal in the national emblem as the revised administrative map the government unveiled on May 18. The new political and administrative map of Nepal incorporates the territories of Limpiyadhura, Lipulek and Kalapani.

Government has registered the bill in the parliament for which voting is scheduled for Saturday.

The Rastriya Janata Party Nepal and Samajbadi Party—who united to form Janata Samajbadi in April– earlier this month had jointly registered their private amendment in the Parliament Secretariat seeking amendment in at least 23 different issues.

Its lawmaker Sarita Giri has also registered a separate amendment demanding the withdrawal of the second amendment.
