E-passport printing bidding follows good home work



KATHMANDU, June 25 : The Department of Passport has made it clear that the call for bidding related to printing of e-passports was carried out following sufficient home work.

Speaking at the meeting today of the House of Representatives, International Relations Committee, Director General of the Department Ram Kaji Khadka said it was a regular activity mentioned in the policy and programme as well as the budget since the past seven years.
Different to the current machine readable passport, the e-passport will have a chip along with biometrics of the passport holder.

The Department is planning to print 2 million copies to meet the demand for the next three years, and considering the government working to establish its own security printing press.RSS
