Socialist Party sacks Sarita Giri from lawmaker, party general member
Kathmandu, July 7 : Socialist Party Nepal has decided to relieve Sarita Giri of her parliament membership as well as the party’s general member.
A meeting of the party’s office-bearers held Tuesday decided to oust her from the post of Member of Parliament (MP) and the party’s general member too, the Socialist Party’s Publicity Department Deputy Chief Bishwa Deep Pandey confirmed.
The party took such an action against lawmaker Giri on the basis of a report submitted by a taskforce formed under the convenorship of party general secretary Ramsahaya Prasad Yadav. Mohammad Istiyak Rain and Sushila Shrestha were other members in the taskforce.
Earlier, the taskforce had submitted its report to the party recommending take action against Giri for breaching the party’s whip in the Parliament.
Giri had put her dissenting voice over the proposal for the amendment to the Constitution meant for incorporating Limiyadhura and other sites in Nepal’s political and administrative map.
Giri had breached the party’s whip issued to back the constitution amendment motion to update Nepal’s map with Lipulekh, Limpiyadhura and Kalapani.RSS
