Twenty-three kilogrammes gold confiscated in Birgunj
Parsa, 17th October : The Parsa Police have confiscated contraband gold worth more than Rs 170 million from Reshamkothi, Ward number 5 of Birgunj Municipality today. Police raided the number 303 flat at Ganesh Apartment acting on a tip-off and confiscated 23 kilos 257 grammes gold.
Ashok Sinha of Haraiya, Raxaul in Bihar state, India had been living in the flat and police conducted a raid on the basis of prior information that illegal gold was being kept there. More than 23 kilogrammes gold of different weights and silver wares weighing two kilos 262 grammes have been seized from the apartment, Superintendent at the Parsa District Police Office, Ganga Panta, said.
Panta said police kept a watch on the locked flat for two days and as no occupant turned up, the lock of the flat was broken in the witness of the people’s representatives and the contraband confiscated. Some documents related to gold have also been confiscated and investigation is on in this connection, She said. FILE PHOTO
